UPC will host an exhibit table and UPC President Karen Davis will speak on the topic of “‘Humane’ Eggs and ‘Happy’ Wings: The Truth Behind the Labels.”

 

Synopsis:

Citing Nellie’s “Free-Range” Eggs and Perdue “Organic” Chicken as examples, I will explain the true meaning of Free-Range, Cage-Free, Natural, Organic, and Pasture-Raised Poultry and Eggs. What do these terms really mean, why should we care, and what should we do?

 

KAREN DAVIS, PhD is the President and Founder of United Poultry Concerns, a nonprofit organization that promotes the compassionate and respectful treatment of domestic fowl including a sanctuary for chickens in Virginia. Inducted into the National Animal Rights Hall of Fame for Outstanding Contributions to Animal Liberation, Karen is the author of numerous books, essays, articles and campaigns. Her latest book is For The Birds: From Exploitation to Liberation.
