“The question of what to do with Hanz — and other roosters like him — is an unforeseen byproduct of the growth of backyard chicken flocks.” The article includes statements by UPC president Karen Davis & video featuring Terry Cummings of Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary in Poolesville, MD outside Washington, DC: http://wapo.st/UkugU2

(Within the past week, UPC adopted two new roosters: Biskwik from the Washington, DC Humane Society animal shelter together with three hens: Tisket, Tasket, and Beatrice, and Lorenzo from a home in a Raleigh, NC suburb, where roosters are not allowed.)
