ATTN: ALL SACRAMENTO AREA RESIDENTS & OTHERS
HELP HENS ON APRIL 6
Re: USDA Food Safety & Inspection Service Public Meeting
"To Focus On Reducing and Eliminating Salmonella Enteritidis
In Eggs"
A public meeting will be held from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Thursday,
April 6, in the Auditorium of the California Department of Food
and Agriculture Building, 1220 N Street, Sacramento, Calif.,
95814. Tel 916-654-0561. To register for the meeting contact Mary
Harris at 202-501-7315. Fax: 202-501-7615
This meeting is designed to solicit and discuss information for
reducing or eliminating the risk of Salmonella Enteritidis in
shell eggs and egg products using a farm-to-table approach.
Please register to attend this meeting to voice your
organization's view of forced molting (and/or other egg industry
welfare abuses). The California egg industry will be there in
full force to justify forced molting, and to speak out against
Assembly Bill 2141, Assemblyman Ted Lempert's bill to ban forced
molting in California. It is very important that the animal
protection/advocacy organizations in California be there for the
birds.
This meeting is an opportunity to speak up for the hens. To
participate in the Open Mike, you must register. Please register
for and attend the meeting. Representatives from national and
state animal organizations will be there. Please help swell our
ranks. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Karen Davis
