THE CHICKEN DAY. Mr. Shearer proclaimed this important Day following
letters from UPC members last spring protesting against his
suggestion that shredders were okay for chickens because chickens
were "too stupid to feel pain or know the difference."
Mr. Shearer very kindly read our letters on the air and, to make
amends for his unthinking comment, proclaimed NATIONAL RESPECT THE
CHICKEN DAY. So, please, thank Mr. Shearer and encourage him to send
out only good thoughts and kind wishes for the chickens of the world,
