Exhibitors Free Chickens from Exhibit
at Minneapolis Institute of Arts

Machipongo, VA - United Poultry Concerns is pleased to announce that the Minneapolis Institute of Arts removed the two chickens confined to a cage in the exhibit "An acre of art." United Poultry Concerns received this good news on Friday, October 20th. In our thank you letter to the Institute, we urged those in charge to institute an immediate policy barring the use of live, sentient animals as art objects. We observed that the now empty cage is a truly meaningful artistic vision and symbol of respect for the earth and the land.

United Poultry Concerns wishes to thank everyone who contacted the Institute in response to our action alert urging that the chickens be removed from the exhibit. We especially thank UPC member and Minneapolis-based artist Frank Erickson for alerting us about the exhibit and for launching our successful effort to free the birds. Thank you everyone! UNITED POULTRY CONCERNS.
