Germany’s Decision to Affirm Legality of Male Chick Shredding Shines Global Spotlight on Practice

In spite of the fact that the German agricultural ministry has allocated money for research to replace the killing of male chicks in the egg industry with "in vivo sexing," the German parliament recently voted against a bill that would have banned the practice. In related news, the U.S. egg industry has announced that it will transition to in vivo sexing by 2020.
