Morningstar Farms Responds to Pleas for Egg-Free Foods
1 million fewer eggs means 4,000 fewer hens will suffer in battery cages each year
Please Join United Poultry Concerns in Thanking Morningstar Farms
In 2007 UPC wrote to Morningstar Farms and urged our members to urge Morningstar Farms – a Kellogg company leader in providing delicious vegetarian foods – to remove eggs from its products and create more vegan products. See:

Morningstar listened! In December, Compassion Over Killing and Vegan Outreach, who organized the campaign, announced that Morningstar Farms has stated it will use one million fewer eggs in 2008 and offer more egg-free products. See: http://www.cok.net/camp/morningstar-farms/.
United Poultry Concerns wrote the following letter to Morningstar Farms thanking the company for committing to marketing more vegan food products this year.

Dear Morningstar Farms:
On behalf of United Poultry Concerns, I am writing to thank you for your announcement in December that you will use one million fewer eggs in 2008 and offer more egg-free products. According to Morningstar Farms spokeswomen Kathleen Eckler: “We’re committed to announcing even more new vegan products for our customers.” Horray!
On April 4, 2007, I sent you a letter with eighteen additional letters from people respectfully urging Morningstar Farms to move away from the use of eggs, due to the extreme cruelty of modern egg production and the many delicious vegan alternatives to egg-based ingredients. I am very inspired by Morningstar Farms’ positive response to our request. Thank you!
We’re letting our members know that Morningstar Farms has taken our concerns seriously and that our letters have made a difference for millions of birds. In addition, we are urging our members to purchase Morningstar Farms’ vegan food products, because they are delicious and nutritious and because we want to do everything possible to show Morningstar Farms that vegan products are profitable.
Thank you for your leadership. Thank you Thank You THANK YOU!
Sincerely,
Karen Davis, PhD
