The No Flight, No Fight Act (H.R. 7371) is a bipartisan bill introduced to restrict the commercial air transport of adult roosters, a key loophole used in international cockfighting and wildlife smuggling. United Poultry Concerns joins Animal Wellness Action in support of this bill.
Cockfighting is a brutal practice in which birds are bred and forced to fight—often to the death—for human entertainment and profit. The rapid shipment of roosters by air has helped sustain these operations. Restricting this transport will help reduce the movement of birds used in cockfighting across state and international lines.
Even though it exempts large-scale commercial transport of other birds, including millions of day-old chicks shipped through the mail and air cargo each year, it is a step toward disrupting the cruel and illegal trafficking of roosters for cockfighting.
