THE GOOD NEWS! The Lawrence, Kansas City Attorney's office, responding to an inquiry by Lawrence activist Judy Carman, has confirmed that the plan to cart chickens around town, then butcher them at “The Percolator” as an art exhibition, is illegal. City Attorney Chad Sublet has written two letters to Amber Hansen, the “artist,” informing her that displaying the chickens in the way she intended and slaughtering them in the city limits of Lawrence are illegal acts.  She will not be able to conduct her “Story of Chickens: A Revolution” in Lawrence itself.

HOWEVER, it is critically important for everyone to contact (and re-contact) Percolator Board Members. Even though the City Attorney has confirmed the illegality of killing chickens within city limits, thereby prohibiting the Percolator from hosting the killings in its “art space,” the Percolator could still host a bloody potluck if the killings were done outside the city. (For our four previous alerts on this sick situation, see Latest Alerts at www.upc-online.org/alerts/.)

Since the Percolator is keeping opponents of the chicken killing project from posting on their facebook, please email The Percolator at lawrencepercolator@gmail.com and/or mail Eric Farnsworth, 1022 New Jersey, Lawrence, KS 66044. 

Here is a list of specific Percolator Board Members’ names and email addresses. Please tell each one of them to remove The Percolator from any further involvement in Hansen’s illegal slaughter project, which people of conscience, compassion, and artistic integrity around the world have demanded be cancelled.
