ACTION

SHARK is sending out a nationwide call to the animal protection movement to join us in Oklahoma to protest United States Senator Jim Inhofe's annual live pigeon shoot political fundraiser on federal land where pigeons will be killed or wounded.

The slaughter is set to take place on September 9, 2016, followed by a dove hunt on September 10th, outside of Altus, OK.

Inhofe is a national political figure. We need a nationwide response to fight against him. Will you answer the call to stand against Inhofe's animal cruelty and political corruption?

Contact Oklahoma's law enforcement agencies and ask why Senator Inhofe is not being held accountable for his illegal acts:

INFORMATION

In the 1990s, the animal protection movement rallied to an annual live pigeon shoot held in Hegins, Pennsylvania. Thousands of people from across the country fought against that slaughter. Now we are calling for that same activism against Senator Inhofe's annual pigeon shoot fundraiser, where thousands of birds are hand-thrown in the air and shot at for fun.

In 2014, after receiving an anonymous tip, a SHARK investigator traveled to Oklahoma, attended the Inhofe fundraiser and pigeon shoot undercover, and captured the horror that unfolded. That video went viral and can be seen HERE.

After seeing our video, representatives from the US Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) realized that the land Inhofe used was federally owned. They investigated the property and discovered not only that Inhofe should never have been allowed to use the federal property to hold a political event, but that there were illegal hunting blinds set up and a massive commercial grade dump where garbage was burned. However, no legal action has been taken to hold anyone, including Senator Inhofe, accountable for their violations of federal law.

If any of us set up illegal hunting blinds or a massive garbage burning operation on federally protected land, we would be in jail, end of story. But that's not what happened here. Inhofe and his political ally who manages the federal land in question have proven to be untouchable. We believe this is because Inhofe is the powerful Chairman of the Senate Environment Committee, which has oversight of the same agencies that should have investigated him. It is simply outrageous that our federal government acknowledges that Inhofe's political fundraiser on federal land violated the law, but then refuse to hold Inhofe accountable. The system truly is rigged.

Inhofe is a national political figure. We need a nationwide response to fight against him. Will you answer the call to stand against Inhofe's animal cruelty and political corruption?
