Dear Sirs:
I am writing to you on behalf of United Poultry Concerns to protest U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe’s annual live pigeon shoot political fundraiser on federal
land. We understand that Sen. Inhofe uses federal property for this purpose and that the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation investigated this usage and found it to
be illegal to use federal property to hold a political event that includes illegal hunting blinds and a massive commercial grade dump for burning garbage.
We join others in asking you: Why is Sen. Inhofe being given a pass to perform his illegal fundraiser activities?
What draws our organization into this matter is the fact that Sen. Inhofe’s illegal fundraiser on federal land constitutes unspeakable brutality and
cruelty toward defenseless birds. Having attended an illegal pigeon shoot in Pennsylvania several years in a row until it was stopped, I found myself
confronted with a display of human sadism and viciousness that no civilized person can support. And please understand that pigeons (including doves) are
highly intelligent, sensitive birds in case you are unfamiliar with the mass of scientific data establishing this fact.
Please use your respective powers of authority to stop Sen. Inhofe’s pigeon shoots. His fundraiser is not only cruel; it is being conducted illegally
on federal property. I respectfully request a response from each of you to whom this letter is addressed as to what you will do.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Sincerely,
Karen Davis, PhD, President
