Background:
On September 9, the San Luis Obispo Tribune ran “Chicken rights don’t belong on the ballot,” a column by a California chicken farmer, Lon Allan. He urged readers to vote No on Proposition 2, a California ballot initiative that, if voted into law in November, would require more living space for hens used for egg production, pregnant sows, and calves raised for veal in California, starting in 2015.
